Thank you.

Let’s face it, university is not for everyone. Choices are good but informed choices are even better. Perhaps you have applied for university but are unsure as to whether it is right for you!
For some of you an apprenticeship might not have even crossed your mind as an option, or you may recognise the name but be unsure where it can lead. An apprenticeship is a great way to enter a host of careers, including in insurance, whilst earning a salary and developing the necessary skills and knowledge for that role.
Apprenticeship vs. University?

Apprenticeships provide an alternative to university and don’t attract the debt that comes with studying for a full-time degree. Did you also know that apprenticeships can lead to a degree? This is either as part of an apprenticeship programme or as the next step after completion of the apprenticeship.

Still undecided?
Check out our recent Facebook live stream where we debated Apprenticeships vs Uni? here

Here are our 4 advantages for choosing an apprenticeship:

1. Earn while you earn:

Apprentices study and learn while earning a wage.
2. Networking:
Building a strong internal and external network is an effective way to progress in a career. Apprentices have this network from day one and some are even able to ‘reverse mentor’ senior executives – apprentices get invaluable business insight and visibility in high in the business. Starting work early and networking with industry professionals makes you stand out and better placed to take that next step up when you are ready.
3. Personal development:
Personal development is at the heart of apprenticeships – from presentations to senior managers, to self-awareness and resilience training. Apprentices also receive the same level of technical training as graduates do.

4. Development of soft skills
You might have heard about soft skills but what are they? Soft skills are sometimes referred to as transferable skills. Skills such as: communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership just to name a few. The apprenticeship routes allow you develop these skills early on. Companies are looking for people who can become future leaders so, encouraging you to develop these skills is crucial.

Apprenticeships in Insurance

Among the world’s best-paid professions and recognised for its good work-life balance and social value, insurance offers a rich set of opportunities to aspiring young professionals. Insurance looks at diverse range of risks from marine to cyber, from climate to political.
