Curtis Jobling visits Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart were lucky enough to welcome a visit from author and illustrator, Curtis Jobling on Thursday 22nd June. He is the designer of worldwide hit children’s television show, Bob the Builder and is the author and illustrator of many children and teen novels such as the best-selling ‘Wereworld’ series.

Students in Year 7 and 8 enjoyed an exciting interactive talk in the main hall covering elements of his work including live doodling, cartoon screenings and a reading from his latest novel.

Some students were also lucky enough to participate in creative writing workshops with outstanding results. By the end of their workshop students had completed the ending to a short story entitled ‘The Box’; we had many weird, wild and wonderful things inside the boxes! Curtis particularly enjoyed finding Bob the Builder in one of the boxes.

Curtis was amazed at the welcome he received from Sacred Heart students and asked “Wow! Are they always this well behaved?” His welcome could not be more evident than at break and lunch time when the queue to have their books signed extended far beyond the library door! Overall a fabulous morning.
